Humanity prepare to brace yourself for Ampeauty, the latest offering from the sickest and most repulsive Austrian trio PUNGENT STENCH. Their latest opus continues to uncover the mysterious morbid fascinations of the bizarre human mind by combining the enticement of two frightening and factual fetishes: the beauty of the amputated and the love to amputate. Through a sharpened and refined musical attack, PUNGENT STENCH continue to stay genuine to their well-known offensive tradition by means of notorious gruesome photography, offensive lyrics, sadistic humor and the gruesome abundance of deliberately crushing Death Metal with every torture strung guttural outburst. Hailing from Vienna, this trio began a slow and painful musical transformation the moment they commenced in February of 1988, instantly revering to the death metal underground for their irreverent take on the world. After the release of their first EP entitled Extreme Deformity, the first album For God Your Soul...For Me Your Flesh followed, establishing the band as one of the leaders in the European Death Metal and Grindcore genre, as well as one of the original bands that have helped give rise to the Nuclear Blast label. Their increasing popularity among fans of extreme and grotesque music soon convinced PUNGENT STENCH to become a permanent unit consisting of Alex Wank (Rector Stench) on drums, Jack Perkowski (Pitbull Jack) on bass, and enigmatic frontman Martin Schirenc (Don Cochino) on vocals and guitar.
The critically acclaimed Been Caught Buttering came next in succession, the album responsible for expanding the band?s distinctive style of music to fans of metal worldwide. The success of this release gave PUNGENT STENCH an invitation to help spread their warped messages of abnormality around the world through tours with Type O Negative, Brutal Truth, and Macabre which led them to Israel, the USA, Australia, Turkey and all major European countries unveiling the sickest and most visually intense shows to be found.
Typically, the death metal genre has always been fixated with blood, guts, and blasphemy, but PUNGENT STENCH took things one step further with a level of detestability that no other would dare to step up to, things one could not even envision. The band clearly displayed this in the ravaging EP, Dirty Rhymes and Psychotronic Beats, which elucidated their macabre sense of pernicious humor through a newfound groove-related element in their grotesque death metal fusion.
The maddening strains of Club Mondo Bizarre For Members Only, increased further developments in the band's unique approach, but shortly after its release, PUNGENT STENCH decided to take a 'short' time out that unfortunately ended with a break in 1995 lasting more than eight years! This news caused a massive devastation to those who were not ready to give up the immoral conducts of the sinful trio and in 1997 PUNGENT STENCH bestowed a CD as a farewell gift to their followers consisting of no longer available recordings and forgotten tracks entitled, Praise the Names of the Musical Assassins.
In 1999, two of the three original members announced the reformation of PUNGENT STENCH, excluding Pitbull Jack, who was replaced by Marius (a.k.a. Reverend Mausna) of Belphegor fame, arming a new beginning and give the band the opportunity to create the next opus, Masters Of Moral - Servants Of Sin. Don Cochino, Rector Stench and Reverend Mausna continued to present the results of intricately merged styles of metal, unmistakably distinguishing the compositional complexity that continues to give everyone a lesson in sinfully grotesque and ripping metal!
It?s now 2004 and the self-proclaimed priests of perversity have once again undergone a small line-up change with new bass player, Fabio Testi, shocking the unprepared and unaware populace by exposing the factual erratic and anomalous fixation of today?s world to desecate the human body to achieve a form of beauty that only the abnormal psyche finds appealing. This is not a monotonous or repetitive piece of work, this is a full attack of multi-structured sophistications that is sure to please those who have remained faithful to the pungent order. In Ampeauty, PUNGENT STENCH have created a steady-paced and eerie composition that will send chills of terror down one?s spine through eminently intense and pummeling tracks that will not be left forgotten. Be prepared to surrender yourselves to the true and undisputed musical assassins.
