In ancient Greek civilization, individuals were divided up into three body types: mesomorph, endomorph, and ectomorph. Being the latter not only meant you were tall and thin, but also edgy and aggressive. Unquestionably, the name EKTOMORF suits this Hungarian unit well, as much of the characteristic aggression exists in their vigorous approach to their blend of thrash/industrial-tinged hardcore and punk. The band?s latest album, Instinct, is a sledgehammer?s hit of anger, and much more powerful and belligerent than its predecessor, Destroy.

EKTOMORF was founded in 1994 by the two brothers Zolt?n and Csaba Farkas. After some time in the underground and eagerly writing song material, the band obtained a record deal and released their first album, Hangok. Their musical mixture of powerful thrash metal, hardcore, punk, and folk influences (resulting from the Roma roots of the Farkas brothers) soon earned EKTOMORF a legion of fans in their native Hungarian homeland.

With their self-titled 1998 follow-up, J?zsef Szak?cs joined the band and EKTOMORF received the chance to present themselves to a larger audience. Soon the trio started to record Kalyi Jag (Black Fire), and shortly after its release, EKTOMORF were invited to perform at large festivals such as the Summer Breeze Open Air in 2001.

The following album, I Scream Up To The Sky, became the band?s breakthrough album receiving enthusiastic reviews as well as features in popular rock magazines like Metal Hammer and Rock Hard.

Solidified as a quartet with the addition of guitar player Tam?s Schrottner, EKTOMORF were signed to Nuclear Blast Records in 2003 and subsequently released Destroy. With the help of producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic, Disbelief, Illdisposed) in Denmark?s Antfarm Studios, Destroy resulted in groovy, riff-orientated speed, pushing pure power and energy to the point of erupting hate. The success of this release led the band into a spring tour with New York?s Pro-Pain, and in the summer of the same year as a support band for one of metal?s most highly influential bands, Fear Factory.

Once again under Madsen?s guidance at Antfarm Studios, Instinct, EKTOMORF?s latest work, is an uncompromising, straightforward, in-your-face soundtrack to a revolution, bursting with groove, anger, and ingeniously composed hate and power. Tight drumming, thunderous bass lines, trampling riffs, and energetic lead melodies all laced with punk aggression will crumble the foundation of any oppressive force. Songs like ?Show Your Fist? will surely invocate mob mentality, while the sitar-garnished ?Burn? exposes bad memories of so-called good friend.

Having performed uncountable shows and emblazoning their name and sound at major European festivals such as Wacken, With Full Force, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, EKTOMORF show no signs of slowing down! While many of their European peers gravitate toward the more dramatic spectrums of metal, EKTOMORF prove their songwriting abilities and have honed their brand of musical attack. With instinct as one of the strongest human attributes, you are encouraged to trust yours and have a listen!
